Bodega Lurton Pinot Gris 1999
$6.99

This delicious Alsace style wine has a bouquet of peaches and apricots.
Very fresh on the palate, and quite rich, it has a delicious aftertaste.
Pinot Gris
is an Alsace grape variety
better known as Tokay. It is very rare in Argentina and we only have a few hectares
of vines. We harvest this variety before all
the others to avoid over-ripening, which would be detrimental to the wine’s bouquet ; we make sure to harvest in the morning so
the grapes can be brought to the cellar
during the coolest part of the day.
Then we crush the grapes and pump them to the wine press via a cooling element to be slowly pressed. The juice is protected from oxygen by a blanket of carbon-dioxide and then put into vat to settle for 24 hours.
Special cultured yeast, especially suited to Alsace, is used to bring on fermentation. The wine is kept on its lees for approximately 4 months before being fined and filtered.

Jacques et François LURTON SA was founded in 1988 by two brothers, the sons
of well known Bordeaux owner-grower
André Lurton (Châteaux Bonnet,
La Louvière, Dauzac, Clos Fourtet ...). Owners and growers in Argentina, they vinify and produce wines in six different countries : Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, Spain
and Uruguay.

Jacques and François have created an impressive range of wines, from varied parts of the globe, which each haveing their own style and offering excellent value.
To achieve that, they patiently selected the best possible "terroirs" and have chosen to vinify on the spot all the wines they sell, with their own team of oenologists.
Having recently become owners of 300 hectares in Argentina, Jacques and François
have planted 150 hectares of vines and built their own cellar in Tunuyan
(150 km south of Mendoza)
