WE LOVED THESE WINES
Over the past several weeks we have tasted some
delightful wines. Here is a recap:
Montresor Bianco di Custoza 1998 - $7.99
" Made primarily from Garganega (the principle vine for Soave),
the Montresor winery adds chardonnay, Tocai and other Noble
Varieties. This delicate, floral white should be enjoyed young."
This undiscovered jewel was a co-favorite at our wine Dinner.
Montresor Valpolicella Capitel della Crosara 1996- $8.99
Our other co-favorite
"the Montresor family uses a combination of younger vines
tempered with juice from more mature sections of the vineyard.
The wine is further enhanced by the addition of a small amount
Amarone. This imparts a rich, full texture that sets it apart from
the typical Valpolicella."
1997 & 1996 R.H. Phillips EXP Syrah - $11.99 on sale
The 1996 was a very satisfying wine with rustic, earthy, leather
and tar overtones, but the 1997 takes the richness of the 96 and
adds an explosion of bright wild berry fruit with a long, lingering
finish. Both are Delicious but only the 1997 is IN STOCK
1997 MezzaCorona Pinot Grigio - $8.99
This is a full-flavored Pinot Grigio with medium body and
bright acidity. If you like watery/sweet Pinot Grigios - don't buy it.
Casinetta Vietti Moscato D'Asti ($12.98)
Fragrant and delightfully pretty, lively, nectar. Innocently decadent
Cuvee de Pena 1996 ($6.99)
This tasty blend from the south of France is a delicious
alternative to Merlot, Beaujolais and light Cote du Rhones.
